Class Policies

Our Approach

At Seattle ReCreative, we enjoy providing high quality arts-based classes for adults and children. Most of our classes focus on process rather than product. This allows students of varying skill levels the opportunity to explore their creativity in a low-pressure environment. If more experience is required, it will be specified in the class description. Our mission is to promote environmental stewardship and encourage creative reuse through our programs. Therefore, all of our classes utilize recycled materials that are donated to us from the community. Your class fee includes materials at no extra cost, unless otherwise specified.

Arriving
Please arrive on time to all of our classes and workshops as much important instruction happens at the beginning of class. If you know in advance that you will be late, please call Seattle ReCreative at 206.297.1528 and leave a message for the teacher.

Kid's Classes
In an effort to prevent distraction, parents and caregivers are asked to wait outside the classroom during class. You are welcome to peruse our store or visit a local cafe. However, we do require parents to participate in our drop-in programming and "family" classes.

Class Cancellations and Refunds
In most cases, Seattle ReCreative requires at least 3-4 registered students to run a class. If enrollment is low, you will be notified at least a week in advance. Students from cancelled classes may be transferred to another class free of charge, or fully refunded.

If you have registered for a class and need to withdraw, refunds are only available if we are notified more than 14 days before the class begins. No refunds will be given for withdrawing from the class within two weeks of the start of class. No refunds or make-up classes are available for missed classes due to illness or unforeseen events.

Camp Cancellations and Refunds
In most cases, Seattle ReCreative requires at least 3-4 registered students to run a camp. If enrollment is low, you will be notified at least a week in advance. Students from cancelled camps may be transferred to another camp free of charge, or fully refunded.

Full refunds are available for camps before June 1st. No refunds or credits after June 1st unless we can fill your space. No refunds or make-up classes are available for missed classes due to illness or unforeseen events.

Liability
Upon enrollment, you will be asked to sign several forms. These forms specify that by enrolling an activity at Seattle ReCreative:

  • you give permission for you or your child to receive emergency medical treatment.
  • you hereby release SRC from liability for any injury that you or your child may suffer as a result of participation in our program.
  • photos of you/your child or your/their artwork may be used for art shows or other promotions.

You will be asked to update these forms at least once a year.

Weather Closure
Seattle ReCreative abides by the closure of the Seattle School System. If your class or workshop is cancelled due to adverse weather conditions, you will be credited for a make-up class in the future.
