Assistant Retail Associate
This is a part-time non-exempt position and reports to the Operations/Materials Manager.
6-10 hours a week with opportunity for more hours starting in the summer.
Interact with and assist customers, donors and others with merchandise selection, suggestion selling and cashiering in a courteous and professional manner. Accept materials donations on behalf of Seattle ReCreative. Our retail operation is key to our mission and generates a significant portion of our operating budget.
Proactively acknowledge, greet and help customers in any area of the store.
Assist customers and material donors in a timely and courteous manner by answering questions.
Handle cash, checks, and credit card transactions, closing out cash drawer, and balancing all POS transactions.
Sort, price and organize donated materials.
Merchandise, restock and provide general floor maintenance where needed.
Maintain clean and safe work environment.
Support team members and volunteers.
Build and maintain internal and external customer satisfaction.
Answer phone, check messages at least twice a day, and forward messages
Minimum Job Requirements:
Must be 18 or older
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
Retail and customer service.
Experience handling cash and inventory.
Experience using Square or similar tablet point of sale system.
Experience working at a thrift store or reuse organization (preferred).
We do run background checks.
Essential Physical Abilities:
Lifting and carrying 50 pounds; Developed fine motor control, grasp, handle, manipulate objects with fingers;
Standing for long periods of time; frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, stooping, squatting, pushing; climbing ladders;
Able to travel across a variety of surfaces (stairs, ramps, uneven terrain)
Retail store environment, temperature varies, loud noises, occasional crowds.
Other programs and events occurring in the space during store hours.
Multi-tasking and keeping track of unfinished tasks
