DIY Holiday Gifts

Using recycled materials, make your own wrapping paper, ornaments, cards, and gifts. Dress for mess!

About the Instructor

Katie Stewart has enjoyed working with children since she was in high school, babysitting and nannying her way through Smith College and beyond. Originally from the East Coast, she worked as a Teaching Assistant and Lead Counselor for Glen Urquhart School's GAIN @ GUS-- a program that hosts intelligent, motivated kids from the poorer areas of Boston-- where she taught art and theatre classes as well as assisting in the classroom. Here in Seattle, she has taught theatre classes for Youth Theatre Northwest and Stone Soup Theatre. 


Solstice Players

Seattle ReCreative will become a winter wonderland in this full-day camp. Through creative drama and whimsical art-making, you will bring stories to life to celebrate the first day of Winter Solstice. Dress for mess!

Note to Parents: there will be a short presentation at the end of the day from 4:00 to 4:30pm. Please arrive promptly to see what your kids have been up to!

About the Instructor

Gillian Jorgensen is a Seattle-based teaching artist and playwright with 20 years experience specializing in devised work and creative drama. Her favorite classes are those in which new worlds are invented, inspired by the environment and ideas in any room, in any moment. Her original works include The Nut-Brown Girl and Tigery, and Heavens-to-Betsey Get Lost in the Salad Bar (Seattle Public Theater), No Way Out(Live Girls Theater), My Pet and My Dead Pet (14/48 Projects) She also created and developed Youth Theatre Northwest’s Haunted Forest series and Annex Theatre’s Ghosty series.

She is a faculty member of Seattle Children’s Theatre Drama School and has served as an artist-in-residence with Book-it All Over!, Seattle Repertory Theatre, and Queen Anne Elementary. Gillian holds a BS in Theatre from Northwestern University, but that hasn’t stopped her from skating as “Madeleine Str’angle” with PFM Roller Derby.
